That’s great from a savings and hygiene perspective. However, like N95s, paper masks are for hospital use. Translation: They’re not comfortable. They’re not super-breathable.
Disposable respirator masks are usually sold in smaller packs because they’re more expensive and they prevent the inhalation of finer particles than other face masks. They typically come in boxes of 12 to 20 masks. Dust masks and surgical masks are usually available in larger packs of 50 to 125 masks.
Cloth masks are intended to be cleaned and reused, while disposable face coverings, surgical masks and disposable N95 respirators are not. Cloth masks are easy to obtain and simple to make at home. On the other hand, surgical masks and N95 respirators can't be made at home and should be considered critical supplies, according to the CDC.
